Recess & Lunch Duty Calendar
Many of the elementary parents volunteer for recess duty to assist the teachers on the playground by providing additional supervision. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Patience Holt at patienceholt@sbcglobal.net.

Recess Volunteer Guidelines
First of all, you are a blessing in that you are able to assist the teachers at this time of the day. Any time you are present, willingness to help is certainly appreciated. The following are a few guidelines that might help you.
- Park in the CFLC (Christian Family Life Center-Door #6) parking lot. You will need to go in to the Kiosk and check in to get a name tag. You must wear your name tag so that it is visible to the teachers and students. Check in with a teacher that is on duty to let them know why you are there and ask where she needs you to be.
- Each teacher uses her judgment for recess and whether or not they will be going outside for recess. At this time, there is no system in place for you to be able to call in to the office to find out if recess is going to happen. In fact, if it is raining during the first recess, this does not necessarily mean that the second and third recesses will be canceled.
- Watch for cars trying to go through the lots. Be suspicious of cars parked in the upper lot near the street. They do not need to park here. If the cars are empty, this is fine, but someone sitting in their car to talk on the phone, eat lunch, or simply sit is not permissible. Be cautious in approaching the car and kindly ask them to leave. If at any time this person seems unreasonable, back off and talk to administration. Of course, if it is a parent of ABSS student, it will be okay, but we discourage it for security reasons.
- The kids are responsible for picking up all equipment, lunch boxes, and coats/sweaters/sweatshirts. However if you happen to see that they didn’t get everything, please takes these articles to the office.
- If you are unsure of a situation of fighting, bullying, or anything else, talk with the teachers on duty. They need to know of these things and are very happy that you are there. Remember, you are here IN ADDITION to the teachers on duty, not to take their place.
- On the 20th of the month, I will try to e-mail you the next month’s calendar, please reply to me as soon as possible so that I can make changes. If you need anything or have any other questions, please feel free to give me a call.
